Bil'in – a village in Palestine

Bil'in is a small farming village in Palestine. When the Israeli government started to build the seperation barrier in 2002 it confiscated half of the villages land to build the Jewish settlement of Modi'in Elit. The government gave no compensation to the village of Bil'in.

The villages make their living from the harvest of olives. When the wall was built the Israelis removed Bil'in's olive groves and replanted them in Israeli territory allowing the villagers little access only via an Israeli army checkpoint.

The residents of the village embarked on a struggle against the construction of the barrier and are joined by international and Israeli activists who have protested every week since February 2005.
